Glimmer Paper Tips And This Week's Weekly Deals

My focus for today's post is on Glimmer Paper.  This week you can pick up your Silver Glimmer paper at a discount - its included in our weekly deals (see below).  You can also still pick up Black Glimmer paper before it's gone - as part of our Year End Sale. And when you pick up your glimmer paper, be sure to follow the tips below for best ways to conserve and adhere your glimmer paper.

Glimmer paper is quite unlike regular cardstock and with the differences come a few tricks for ensuring the shimmer and shine you put on your projects lasts. The biggest difference I have found with glimmer paper is the backing material. Most cardstock is the same texture on the front and back, but glimmer paper has a super shiny surface on the back - making it more difficult for glues and adhesives to adhere to.

  • When using a layer of glimmer paper behind another layer, where just the edge of the glimmer paper is shown, try punching or cutting out the center part that is hidden behind the top layer - this not only saves you some glimmer paper to use elsewhere, but gives you a different surface to adhere your top layer to once its on your card base.  For example, when you layer a 2" cirgle on top of a 2 3/8" scallop circle, use the 1 3/4" circle punch to punch a hole in the center of the scallop circle before adhering your layers, then adhere layers directly to card front using your adhesive between the card base and top circle layer.

  • When adhering glimmer paper directly to your project, separate the shiny backing from the rest of the glimmer paper and peel off, like a sticker.  Then apply your adhesive. Giving your adhesive a rough surface seems to make a huge difference in the ability for the glimmer paper to stay attached.
For adding dimension and adhering directly to glimmer paper....
  • To add dimension between the glimmer scallop and the circle top layer, just use dimensionals.
  • If you choose to not punch out the center of your glimmer paper, you will want to be sure to use either glue dots or several dimensionals to adhere the top layer to the glimmery side of the glimmer paper. Extra adhesive is needed due to the texture of the glitter.

Weekly Deals

This week's weekly deals include Silver Glimmer Paper and our Color Me Irresistible Specialty DSP, pretty Daffodil Delight 1/4" cotton ribbon, and the Be The Star Wood Mount stamp set (which coordinates with our Star Framelits). Stock up on your favorites!

I can never have enough glimmer paper. I absolutely love to use it for embellishing a card.  A small strip of shimmer behind a layer really adds pop to your card. I love it best for punching itty bitty accents punches to use as a quick accent on a card. Or use it in conjunction with the stars or hearts border punch and have a bunch of itty bitty embellishments!

Here are a couple of cute cards that Stampin' Up! created using the "Be The Star" stamp set along with the coordinating framelits.  Do you have this stamp set? I'd love to see how you use it!

Did you know...

...if you make an order from my online store and you choose NOT to share your contact info with me, then I can not ensure you are sent every new catalog that comes out. As long as you spend a minimum of $25 with me during the year, I will happily send you each of the catalogs.

Additionally, when you share your contact info with me, I will also let you know when there are special promotions. I do not send emails for our weekly deals... those are always shared on my blog and on my facebook page. However, I will occasionally send an email if there is a special promotion going on - such as at the start of an event like our Year End Sale. This may occur up to once or twice a month, if that.

This week's Freebie Friday is the Oh So Cute Reindeer Treat Bag.  Its a simple to make small treat bag that will hold a small treat like Skittles or M&M's. The coolest part about this treat bag is that some of the supplies are currently on sale (while supplies last)!  You can stock up in my store and save up to 60% on the designer series paper and reindeer clips.
  • Get a 48 sheet 12x12 Merry Moments DSP stack for only $5.60 - one 12x12 sheet will make 6 of these treat bags - so you can get enough paper to create up to 288 of these cute bags.

Bow Tie Holidays is a spin off of a technique card I created last year that involved coloring glimmer paper. With this tutorial, while I still used glimmer paper, I wanted to focus on the bow builder punch. I love this punch as it makes creating bows quick and simple.  My featured stamp is from the November Paper Pumpkin Kit - Mistletoe and Holly. My Paper Pumpkin has some of the very best photopolymer stamps I have ever seen. I love mixing and matching from one kit to another.

I love the versatility and exclusivity of my Paper Pumpkin stamps. I enjoy the challenge that each new kit brings - not knowing what is coming helps fuel my creativity once it arrives.  Take a look at what we received in the November kit....  Starting with the December kit, anyone who subscribes under me will begin receiving Pumpkin Happy Email from me that contains exclusive additional projects showing step-by-step how stretch your Paper Pumpkin dollars. Projects may or may not use other products - a detailed supply list will accompany each mini tutorial - and not all projects will be cards.

I hope you enjoyed today's card. Don't forget to take advantage of the offers below.
  • This week's Weekly Deals includes some fabulous fun stuff at discounted prices!
  • Save up to 60% by shopping our Year End Sale
If you liked this card, be sure to leave me a comment. Monday, I will be giving the supplies to create your own card to one lucky person who comments on this post.

I have decided to extend the time to win out until the next Freebie Friday post - so you will have a full week to comment to win. Good luck!

Happy Stamping,
