Mustang Monday Color of the Week - Strawberry Slush

This week's Mustang Monday color of the week is Strawberry Slush. I chose this color because it will be gone before we know it. Every year Stampin' Up! brings in 5 brand new colors that we get to enjoy for 2 years. Strawberry Slush was introduced in 2013 so it will be leaving us come June 1st. So I am hoping to get each one of those retiring colors covered in the coming weeks. I really love the "In-Colors" from 2013-2015 and will be very sad to see them go.

There were only 10 different shades of pink offered in 5 of the 52 years of Mustang production history. This pink you see above is a custom pink and what I found was that most of the time pink had to be special ordered. Please note however, that pink isn't something Ford tries to avoid, just take a look at their contributions through the Warriors in Pink program which has been ongoing for over 20 years now. I have found some really cool looking "cars for the cause". What a great inspiration!

One of the color combinations suggested by our Color Coach cards is Strawberry Slush, Rich Razzleberry and Sahara Sand.  Mother's day is coming up soon so I used this combo to create a gift card holder for mom. Hehe...I haven't picked up a nice gift card so an expired debit card was my sample to show the pocket. This fun fold card is an easy way to create a gift card holder!

I used an embossing folder to to add dimension to the top flap of the card and decorated the label with a stamp from my Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set. The sentiment comes from Mother's Love stamp set, which I will be demo-ing during my April Craft Along event on facebook this coming Saturday evening at 7pm.

The other combination suggested by our Color Coach card is Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe. For this combo, I created a Thank You card that I will be sending to one of my lucky customers. I love the butterfly punch and I love that Stampin' Up! has so many great butterfly stamps to coordinate and use along with it.

While preparing to create my cards for this evening, I was looking through my stash of card swaps for inspiration and I came across a couple of cards that I just have to share because both of these cards use the color combinations shown on our Color Coach card for Strawberry Slush, the combos I created cards for as well. The flower thanks card was created by Cindy Trowbridge and the Congrats card was created by Elisa M. Saucier.  Both of these ladies are team mates of mine and we share cards through our monthly team swaps. One of the many perks of being a demonstrator!

I hope you enjoyed this week's Mustang Monday post. Don't forget, you are invited to join our Mustang Monday color challenge from last week. I will be accepting cards until April 24. Come join the fun!

Inspired by Jamberry April 10

Hello Stampers and Jamberry lovers... I am back with another Inspired by Jamberry post. A little later than I originally planned but I had several issues crop up over the weekend keeping me busy as a bee. This weekend, since I was short on time, I chose to combine my usual two cards into one card.

About the Wraps:

These wraps are a Mommy & Me set. What that means is that the wraps come sized for adults and for juniors. Wear these wraps with your daughter!  The smaller "two style wrap" comes with both wraps for kids. The other two wraps, Destiny and Mint Green Chevron, are separate. Mix and match to make a great combo of pretty nails!  If you are interested in picking up these popular wraps, click below:

About the Card:

Stampin' Up! has many ways to create chevron patterns. I could have used the chevron paper that is in the color collection DSP stacks, I could have used the Positively Chevron background stamp, or even the chevron stamp from the Work of Art stamp set. Then again, I could have used the chevron embossing folder to give the background an embossed look or even inked the embossing folder with the brayer. But instead of ordering and using any of these methods, I chose to think outside the box and use a tool I already owned in an unconventional way - I used the Simply Scored Borders Plate overlay as a stencil and I sponged the ink on, line by line, using a sponge dauber

Creating the chevron background really all depends on which tools you have...and how open you are to exploring your tools to the level that you can use them unconventionally. Solving problems is something I really enjoy - so being limited with supplies is typically a welcomed challenge.

The color palette I chose was also somewhat limited. In a perfect world, I would have had Always Artichoke paper and ink pad to use for the card base and leaves. Instead I chose to use Sahara Sand, which really brought out the two aqua blues nicely. Honestly, I'm afraid that Always Artichoke may have been too bold  and taken away from the over all look. What do you think?

Bermuda Bay and Pool Party are lovely colors - but I did not have the Bermuda Bay ink pad. Instead, I used a marker to scribble ink on a clear block and picked that up with my blending pen to highlight the Pool Party flowers, which I also colored with the blending pens.

I had so much fun creating this card - it was challenging figuring out the pieces. One thing I do wish, however, is that Stampin' Up! would come up with a Labels Collection 2 set of dies that fit neatly between the sizes of the current Labels Collection dies. I love how the Bermuda Bay mat offsets the focal image. I used a smaller die than usual on the label to get rid of the bold lines around the label so I could replace it with the Bermuda Bay mat. Easily one of my favorite cards.

Hope you enjoy! And I invite you to visit my Facebook page, every Thursday evening/Friday morning I announce what wraps I will be using in my Inspired by Jamberry post. I'd love if you come join me and get inspired then share what you create on my facebook post to be entered to win a prize!

Happy Stamping!
