About Me

I attended art school at Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri from 2003-2005 where I was a Design student with an emphasis in Photography. I currently work full-time for our local newspaper and have been there for the last 7 years. I started out at the bottom and have worked my way up to graphic designer/prepress supervisor. I enjoy working digitally to layout advertisements and assisting customers to get their projects printed. In school, my favorite areas of study included mixed media and photography, as well as design.

I began paper crafting in January of 2011 as a creative outlet that didn't require sitting in front of the computer non-stop. I realized early on that quality paper and inks were essential to card crafting and I became a big fan of Stampin' Up. After about 9 months, I wanted to learn even more about the hobby so I landed a part-time job at Michael's which helped to fuel my desire to learn even more. As I learned about the many products at Michael's, my interest in becoming a scrapbook instructor grew. My first scrapbook layout was scary - I was afraid to cut my paper as well as my photos. I couldn't imagine messing up and wasting all my money just to screw up.  I understand beginners fears because I have faced many of them - and I still face them as I learn new and different techniques.

I became certified to teach scrapbooking on February 20, 2012.  Since then I have earned my certificate for teaching paper crafting at Michael's through their paper-ED program and have been asked to teach concepts and techniques by family and friends as well as at several locations near my home town of Moberly, Missouri.  Teaching at Micheal's has been a real eye opener. I have found that I enjoy introducing people to great products and showing them how to use those products. My favorite part of working at Michael's could easily be split up into demonstrating the products either through in-store demos or the classes that I taught and customer service. I have found that I totally enjoy sharing my knowledge.

My last month of teaching for Michael's was in November 2012. As of November 25, 2012, I have begun a business sharing my love of paper crafting and high quality paper crafting products from Stampin' Up.

Beginning 2015, I am working on a redesign of my blog and I am working toward opening an online classroom experience called Scrappy Stampin' U where I hope to introduce students to Stampin' Up! and teach the many techniques and . Stampin' Up! features tools and supplies of the highest quality with color coordinated card stock, ink, designer papers, and embellishments that take the guess work out of creating. All you need to do to create stunning paper craft projects is to learn a few techniques and unleash your hidden creativity. Scrappy Stampin' U will be the perfect way to learn a variety of stamping techniques.
